Our defending circle has been broken again too soon. Brother Milt Romaine has passed away peacefully after a long battle with illness. A fixture at the Moose for as long as many of us can remember, Milt will be missed dearly by all. Whether running bingo, serving spaghetti on Wednesday nights, serving on the board, or maybe his favorite, putting smiles on the faces of generations of children as our Lodge Santa, Milt was always there and always willing to help. He will be missed. May he rest in eternal peace.
The Moose Memorial Service will be at 3pm on May 4th.
On May 4th, Danbury Lodge will be holding a spaghetti fundraiser for Milt Romaine. All proceeds from this event will go directly to Milt and Cathy to assist in covering any medical expenses and future expenses. Tickets are $20 per person. The event will be held from 1pm-6pm; Sunday, May 4th.
You can purchase tickets at the lodge in the social quarters; by calling the lodge at 203-792-9106; or email danburymoose1373@yaoo.com.
The plastic drink chips will be honored until May 1st. We have ceased handing them out since March 5th. A paper drink receipt is being provided instead. Please note that the older small plastic drink chips will not honored as these were phased out and replaced over ten years ago.

You may have heard the saying, “A burden heavy to one is borne lightly by many.” This is at the core of the Moose organization and what makes us unique in our Lodges, local communities and charitable “cities” that we support. Our roots can be traced to 1888 and the founder of the Moose, Dr. Henry Wilson, who successfully established the first Lodge in Louisville, Kentucky. In the early years, the Moose was to serve a modest goal of offering men an opportunity to gather socially, to care for one another’s needs and celebrate life together.
Since those early years, our fraternal organization rapidly expanded to include valuable service to our communities, care for children and teens in need at Mooseheart Child City & School , a 1,000-acre campus, located 40 miles west of Chicago and care for our senior members at Moosehaven, a 70-acre retirement community near Jacksonville, Florida.
With a membership of over 1,000,000 members, our presence is felt in over 1,500 communities across all 50 states and four Canadian provinces, plus Great Britain. The Moose organization contributes between $75 to $100 million worth of community service (counting monetary donations, volunteer hours worked and miles driven) annually.
In addition to Mooseheart and Moosehaven, the Moose Fraternity’s Heart of the Community effort is multifaceted with internally developed programs like Tommy Moose. Tommy Moose aids in helping children overcome fears and anxiety during times of stress. Donated to law enforcement, fire fighters and other emergency workers, Tommy Moose plush dolls are presented to children in various traumatic situations. The external focus of our service is directed towards many worthwhile national charities, a few of which are: Salvation Army, Safe Surfin’ USA Foundation, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, and St. Jude.
In our local Lodges, you will find a wide array of activities to participate in both as an individual and as a family. From holiday parties, dances, sports, themed dinners and live entertainment, the Moose has much to offer. Membership can mean different things to different people. You are the one determining what you want to get out of the organization, and what you want to give back.
The Moose is about celebrating life together, serving those in need within our local community, supporting our children at Mooseheart and standing by our senior members at Moosehaven

Our staff is made up of passionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to making Moose Events a success. We work tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the event is carefully planned and executed to perfection. Our staff is 100% volunteers. This includes, but not limited to, our board of officers, bartenders, kitchen staff and bingo staff. The Moose would not be what it is without our members support and our volunteers!
We are always looking for volunteers. Kitchen help is appreciated; clean-up crews for the exterior and interior of the lodge too.
With the recent renovations for the flooring in the Social Quarters, we are looking to continue these cosmetic changes with painting. More to come on this project.
As spring is almost here and we are getting the warmer weather, we will be looking to do an outside clean-up of the property. Volunteers are needed for this! The lodge clean-up day will be Saturday, May 10th from 9am to 12pm. Lunch will be provided.
